Should an artist be afraid of himself – of the confected?
Literally, from the bottom of awareness?
Afraid of his own alter ego? Whose unrestrained antics on canvas or paper, laced with a dash of madness and a dash of providence, also – suddenly and against their will – infuriate the public.
Blowing the corks of consciousness. Encouraging one to immerse oneself in another’s work in spite of….
As in the pain at the moment of a sudden and violent blow to the face or chest.
Like love, when the sight of a person suddenly made the ground beneath your feet shaky.

Daria Sanatina. “Fortress.”
The answer is like two times two….
If you want to revitalize the canvas (even if not the whole canvas, at least a couple of dots on it), first let out a different, unrestrained, unpredictable, unpleasant or, on the contrary, prohibitively beautiful self.
To make every brush stroke turn into a spasm – of pain, of love’s ecstasy.
So that the oil spreads on the canvas with the warmth coming at these moments from the swollen veins, from the heated flesh of the artist.
This is what distinguishes true creativity from the depiction of reality – stepping out of oneself, loving, careful, humble, content with little.
So to hell with them, and reeducation!
And then the cherubim and seraphim will come….
By opening himself, the artist opens his canvases to all others like him and the Creator.

Daria Sanatina. “Soul.”
The International Exhibition Center ART-Space opened an exhibition of paintings by Daria Sanatina.
That’s exactly the feeling you get when you see her work. Fear of being different. Not what people around her are used to or want her to be.
It’s a bit of a give-and-take, to put it simply.
She glides on her canvases as if on skates – on ice. Beautiful, technical, and many people really like it – young beautiful body, very sexy, nice eyes.

Daria Sanatina.
From one painting to the next.
But suddenly when you meet the fifth or sixth – you fall “under the ice”, following her pain and gifted alter-ego, off the leash for a couple of hours.

Daria Sanatina. “Sacrament.
This is what happens to creative people, probably because of their youth. I don’t want to part with the archetypal image of a “Princess” – sweet, childishly beautiful; to voluntarily give up parental care and guardianship. But at the same time the archetype of the “Priestess” already beckons. The image is attractive, sexy, with such a wide arsenal of all kinds of techniques and strategies to achieve success, even if it is still external!
It is possible to sit on two archetypes, and even three or four, but not all at once. That’s why there is metamorphosis, both in life and in creativity.
There’s nothing wrong with that. If you don’t take too long to find yourself. Especially for a creative person.

Daria Sanatina. “Depth.”
Maybe for this reason, Daria Sanatina’s paintings often feature the same “hero” – the human eye. It is as if the unconscious, the other “I”, is making itself known.

Canvas is like a sheet: if you want to give yourself away, don’t hold yourself back.
